To raise funds to fight an appeal by Cuadrilla against the fracking refusal at the Preston New Road site, Little Plumptons, Lancashire.
About the project
Preston New Road Action Group's major new fracking fundraising campaign has been launched!
On the 29th June, Lancashire County Council refused permission for Cuadrilla to drill and frack at the Preston New Road site. Seismic monitoring arrays were also refused. Cuadrilla are appealing to the Planning Inspectorate to overturn these decisions, and override local democracy.
Our crowdfunder target of £15,000 is part of a wider fundraising campaign. This has a target of £45,000.These funds are absolutely essential as a minimum to mount an effective case to quash Cuadrilla's appeal to the Planning Inspectorate against Lancashire County Council's refusals. We need our legal and technical experts to fight with us and the funds will pay for this. We as a community are just local residents and are all volunteers who freely give their time and skills to keep this industry from getting a foothold in our area.
Cuadrilla has already lodged one appeal, which started running on the 13th August, and are expected to have their appeal for the main fracking application refusal by LCC on the go within the next few weeks.
It was PNR's legal and technical experts who won the battle at Lancashire County Council for the site at Little Plumpton. They can win again, although we will need extra input, both on the legal and technical side. The appeal verdict will act as a huge precedent which may determine the future of fracking throughout the UK.
Please help us fight this attempt to inflict an unwanted industry on our community, with a donation...large or small - all donations are most welcome and gratefully received!
In February 2014 Cuadrilla announced plans to apply for planning permission to carry out horizontal high pressure hydraulic fracturing (fracking) at two sites in Lancashire. One site is at Roseacre Wood and the other at Little Plumptons.
The Little Plumptons site, also referred to as the Preston New Road Site is situated half way between Little Plumptons and Peel Corner on the A583, a few miles from the famous holiday resort of Blackpool and the genteel township of Lytham St Annes.
If this goes ahead and is successful, this will be the first of thousands of wells covering the Fylde landscape.
We are a group of concerned local residents and businesses. Some of us live within 300m of the proposed Fracking Site.We share the concerns about fracking held by many others across Lancashire:
- Health issues
- Environmental impact - pollution of the surrounding ground and water, noise pollution, visual impact, air quality
- Increased numbers of HGVs on our roads, some carrying toxic waste
- Inadequate regulation
- Inadequate independent monitoring
- Risk of earthquakes
- Damage to property
- Impact on house prices
