Pre-AMICI Dance Group for Disabled Adults

We are a community based dance group running classes for disabled adults and need your help to keep operating.

New stretch target

Our funding covers tutor fees and insurance and thus we are able to continue running for as long as possible dependant on how much money we have available. £1650 will cover the cost for the remainder of the year.

Project aim

We are a community based dance group running classes for disabled adults and need your help to keep operating.

About the project

The Pre-AMICI Expressive Dance Group is for adults with learning and physical disabilities and sensory impairment. Weekly classes are held at St.Philip’s Church Hall, Earl's Court Road from 6-8pm on Fridays, during term time. Our classes operate on an inclusive and welcoming basis. We encourage our students to have fun, move, dance and play within their own abilities. Our aim is to nurture the joy of self-expression through dance whilst gently encouraging each student to working with and relate to others. Each Friday, our students are given a chance to be themselves without judgement and move freely.

The class has been operating for over 10 years and now is at risk of having to shut its doors. Without your help, our students will lose one of the only social outlets they have. There is an important social dimension to the group whereby refreshments and chatter conclude the evening and celebrations mark birthdays, high days and holidays.

Attending an AMICI class changes that monochrome world into an exuberant, joyful, technicolor place where friendships develop and are sustained. The participants find a place in which they belong and the whole is enhanced immeasurably by the presence of generous spirited, able young volunteer dancers, artists and musicians who under the auspices of AMICI bring much merriment and the outside world to our membership.

We thank you all in advance for your help and support!
