WHAT DO WE WANT TO DO?
Help us take PostTea to the United States with Enterprise Nation's 'Go Global' Mission for Small Business. This opportunity of a lifetime will expose us to ten leading small business journalists and New York's hottest startups, brands and entrepreneurs, including a visit to the Etsy HQ in Brooklyn. The aim of the Mission is to expand the profile of some of Britain's best small businesses and drive export growth for Britain's small business community
Founded in February 2013, by owner Kim, PostTEA specialises in luxurious tea gifts, perfect for any occasion. At our home in Surrey (affectionately known as the Tea Factory) we create unique gifts that put the celebration and ceremony back into Britain’s best beverage. We embolden tea drinkers to explore tea, to try new blends and to get creative in the kitchen, and more importantly, we bring people together through the gift of tea.
The opportunity presented to us is simply once in a lifetime, but for us it couldn't have come at a more financially tight time. As a online retailer of gifts we are preparing for what promises to be our busiest and best Christmas yet, but as such a vast proportion of our available 'cash' is committed to purchasing stock and preparing for our busiest time of year. Put simply, this kind of transatlantic adventure hasn't been budgeted for but it's an opportunity we feel we really, really can't miss! We already sell well with the US market, and we'd love to be able expand our sales and seize new leads.
PostTea has a history of asking our community of lovely tea folk (our 'teaple') for support. We successfully crowdfunded a month long pop up adventure last year, which helped us raise our local and national profile and are excited to use crowdfunding to take PostTea GLOBAL!
THE NITTY GRITTY:
Of course, we can't expect pledges without letting you know what we intend to spend your pledges on. The cost for the Mission itself is £370 - this is heavily subsidised by Enterprise Nation and their Mission Partners, HP, UPS and Gatwick Airport. We then need to prepare marketing and sales material specific to the US market, and in line with FDA regulations on the import of food goods to the US. We anticipate spending around £150 on this, which may include consultation with 'someone in the know' if necessary. We've then set aside the £100 as a contingency fund, for all the little extras that always crop up, and the remaining £80 will off set the crowdfunder and go cardless payment fees.
As with all crowdfunding campaigns we need to raise 100% of our total target to receive any money at all so we've devised several rewards starting with just a £5 pledge. This rewards are centered around our PostTea range, and also include some of our bestselling Christmas products, perfect for yourself or to gift to someone else. Details of our rewards are listed opposite, and a full breakdown of rewards and estimated delivery times can be found on our blog post here. If you want your rewards gift wrapped then please just let us know, and if you have further questions on rewards then just pop us a message!
As with all crowdfunding campaigns if we fail to achieve 100% of funding then you will receive you pledge back.
