At South West Equine Protection ( A registered charity which has been running for over 20 years) we are passionate about ponies, wild Dartmoor and Bodmin Moor ponies to be precise! For 365 days a year, 24 hours a day we dedicate our time to Rescuing, Rehabilitating and Rehoming ponies who are in need.

Life can be tough on the moors, we are still experiencing a terrible wet and cold winter here in Dartmoor and with the Foaling season coming up, we know it is going to get worse, which is why we are raising funds to build a 'Pony Spa'...Yes you read that correctly a 'Pony Spa'!

We already own some land which is used to home the ponies befoe they are rehomed, a corner of which is going to become a place where these beautiful animals can come to get a bit of one on one attention...a sort of pony makeover if you like!

The Pony Spa will be a safe place for the Vet/ Farrier/ Dentist/ Groom....or new owner to come and visit each pony as needed...Don't forget these ponies are wild and not used to human contact, so it is so important to build up the trust and make these types of meeting as safe and comfortable as possible.

We have already raised the funds to fence this area off and now need a bit more to provide a good resiliant, dry base for the ponies to stand on when they are there for any treatments, we want to place shingle and sand on the ground to save them (and the staff!) from being ankle deep in mud!It will also become a great place for photographs to be taken and help with publicising each pony when it is ready to become a Loan Pony or to go for Adoption.

This is the second phase of this excting project, with the third phase being the shelters, which we have designed and are building ourselves.
