My Idea and Why You Should Support It
You would think that reading my poetry in front of an audience would be nerve wracking enough but for a good cause I intend to sneak myself into my local poetry open mics (I'm kidding, I will ask the organiser beforehand...) in garish and flamboyant fancy dress and read a poem written from the perspective of the character and finished in my favourite type of form: Welsh poetic form...screw the metre just this once. The readings will take place around the Swansea and Llanelli area and alongside seeing me either get thrown out of my local open mics or pretend to be good at acting, you will enjoy a great night of poetry. Trust me, the poetry and performances are consistently breathtaking.
In order to see this once in a lifetime sight you just have to help me reach my goal of £120. For every thirty pounds donated I will read out a poem so you will have four chances to get down to South West Wales and try to withhold your sniggers...I'm going to have to write some amazing poetry now, aren't I? I will be selling copies of each poem for £2 during the evening and online so if you can't make it just e-mail me for your very own signed copy...I'm kidding, a nicely printed copy of the poem, minus the egotistical yet still very untidy signature.
Bunbury Publishing LTD is an independent publisher dedicated to supporting talented writers and poets at a grass-roots level. They began with Bunbury Magazine and have since began to develop their expertise into publishing poetry collections, chapbooks and novels. They support writers and poets through all stages of their creative development and always have time to support a new writer and/or poet. Bunbury is run by a group of dedicated volunteers, including myself. For more information or to submit to Bunbury, please follow the link in the Aims section.
How will My Generosity be Spent?
It is Bunbury's aim to provide the best support and visibility for talented writers at a grass-roots level. In order to achieve this we will:
1. Buy ISBN numbers for our new poetry collections, chapbooks, anthologies and novels which will make us available to bigger distributors and reputable retailers.
2. We will expand our Manchester community group, Do the Write Thing by becoming qualified in the Arts Award.
3. This is probably the most important one of all: printing costs. Bunbury Publishing LTD is currently a digital only publisher but we would like to move forward into traditional publishing. This would also cover the cost of buying equipment for our smaller submissions such as poetry chapbooks.
Thank you for your support!
