Using a late model Rover Mg ZS, which is one of the last to roll off the production lines in 2005, I am personally overseeing its transformation into an Art Car with the assistance and input of the community to which this project matters. The goal is to create a headstone imagery for the Austin/Rover, celebrate its role as a shadow factory and provide a visually communicative piece for the people who are affected by the changes to the site, helping them to see the current redevelopment of the area and changes in a positive light.
The vehicleis expected to be displayed in and around Longbridge at social events, such as the Christmas Fayre 2016, the project is currently recieving support from Abbey Signs Longbridge, who have offered lighting to the inside of the vehicle and covered the costs and execution of the grafitti work already done.
I will be constantly seeking other sources of support, involvement, venues and exhibition points. The vehicle is currently off road and if sufficient funds are raised to complete repairs, it will be able to tour the area, and attend all of the events to which invitations have been invited, with the further possibility of entering into local carnivals/street events. The funding target allows for full repairs to the vehicle and the running costs for 1 year, allowing time to build the projects notoriety and source a long term public location where exhibition can be prolonged, it is also inclusive of the costs of advertising the project , insurances/indemnity and any further costs the project/vehicle may incur, such as storage.
