I have just been offered a position at a UK university to conduct a research into cancer treatment therapy by testing different compounds similar to cisplatin and looking at their effects on various cancer cell lines to establish safer drug treatments.
About the project
My main purpose of studying Biomedical Science was to one day become part of the succes story for developing the treatment to cancer, hence, reducing mortality. I have followed my passion through so far and successfully graduated with a First Class in the course, this year.
Now I am looking to advance to take up research into potential molecules that that will target cancer cells at certain stages of development. These molecules, if successful, can then go on to stage 1 clinical trials and be developed further to prevent and treat cancer, thereby helping people overcome the challenges of this terminal illness.
As I haven't been able to get a funded scholarship to go ahead with the PhD, I am now counting on your help to make this possible. All the money raised from this crowdfunding will go towards tuition fees and laboratory fees/expenses, strictly. I am trusting in your support to make this research come to live. I am due to start in October on the availabilty of the first 1/3 of the funds, in order to be able to register with the university.
Breakdown of Target
The cost of the PhD is £22,000 per year. The research will last three years, hence the £66,000 target. To be able to commence in October, £22,000 would be required to cover tuition and lab fees for the first year.
Thank you all for your support, God bless.
