St John's Academy, Perth, Scotland is a 2-18 local authority school with a wonderful building, but a primary playground which really needs to be improved so our children can play and relax. Our school has had a link with the Marie Curie Hospital and Recuperare Clinic in Bucharest for a number of years, and our senior pupils volunteer there each year. They play with the children and learn a great deal about life in another culture as these young people battle with illness. The playground between the Hospital and Clinic is in real need of repair and improvement and we have been raising funds to do just that!
Our school is a UNICEF Rights Respecting School and the children and young people have been learning about the right to play and relax. This right is applicable to all children in our world and this project is intended to highlight how interconnected we are with one another.
We have a total target of £35,000 and so far we've raised £10,500 from fundraising and we are in the process of securing £11,000 from grants. We still have a long way to go and would really appreciate your help!
