Please note:

To avoid any potential delays, we recommend that your PayPal account meet these criteria and we'll tell you how to get these setup below.

  1. Your PayPal account needs to be Verified.

  2. Your email address must be Confirmed.

  3. If you are overseas, you'll need to set your account to be able to accept GBP.

  4. PayPal places a number of limitations on 'individual' accounts. We recommend, in order to accept credit and debit card payments from backers your PayPal account must be a Premier or Business account, its free to upgrade.

And as promised, here are instructions on how to get each element setup:

1. Click here to visit PayPal and learn how to get verified

  • In the UK getting verified usually takes between 2 hours and 2 working days. However, depending on your country, it may take several days for your account to become verified - so please make sure to plan accordingly if you are on a tight deadline for receiving the funds.

If your account is pending verified status with PayPal, you will not be able to add your PayPal account to your project, and thus you won't be able to receive contributions via PayPal on your project. Once your account is fully verified you can add it to Crowdfunder.

2.Click here to visit PayPal and learn how to confirm your email address

3.Activate your funding currency:

  • Log in to your PayPal account and go to 'My Account ' > 'Profile' and click 'My Money'

  • Under the 'Financial Information' section, click on 'Currency Balances'

  • Select your funding currency (e.g. GBP) from the 'Select new currency' drop-down menu

  • Hit the 'Add Currency' button

4.Upgrade to PayPal Premier or Business (it's free):

  • Log in to your PayPal account and go to 'My Account '

  • On The 'My Account page', click 'Upgrade' (next to Account Type)

Upgrading to Premier takes only a few seconds. However, in some jurisdictions a Business upgrade may take a few days and may require you to upload ID like proof of address or a scan of your passport.

We recommend you upgrade at the beginning of your campaign in order to avoid delays in receiving pledges via PayPal.

Upgrading also has the advantage of lifting restrictions that PayPal may have applied to your account (e.g. the maximum amount that can be collected or withdrawn).

One last thing...

If you receive an error message that states that your country is not enabled to receive payments, your PayPal account may be located in a country that PayPal is unable to receive funds with. For a complete list of country-specific PayPal restrictions, see: www.paypal.com/worldwide
