The SNP has never had a constituency MSP elected to represent this seat. We want to change that. Please help us turn Scotland all yellow!
In May 2015, most of the polling forecasts predicted a Tory victory in the Borders. They were wrong, and against the odds, the SNP won the Westminster seat for the first time, by 328 votes.
This year all recent polls suggest the Ettrick, Roxburgh & Berwickshire (ERB) seat will, for the first time, be a very tight contest between ourselves and the Tories, with many current predictions suggesting it could be the only Tory hold in Scotland.
We know we face a well-funded machine here, as the Tories are determined to keep this seat. However, we also know from canvassing and polling that we have a very good chance of winning. For the first time we need to compete with them using quality election materials to complement our hard work, and to communicate a positive, ambitious alternative to Tory austerity and indifference to poverty.
No constituency can ever be regarded as an easy win, but a win here will need to be especially hard fought - and will be especially sweet!
You can help make the constituency map Tory-free. Use your money where it will make a real difference and help us re-elect our hard working colleague, Paul Wheelhouse MSP - this time as the constituency member. In doing so you can help us colour Scotland's mainland all yellow, while helping the Borders get the representation it needs, rather than a Tory MSP who, as quoted in the local press, believes welfare is a "lifestyle choice". It’s up to you!
Where is ERB?
The Ettrick, Roxburgh and Berwickshire seat is in the South East corner of Scotland, stretching from the fishing communities around Eyemouth on the Berwickshire coast, along farmland through Kelso and Jedburgh to the mill towns of Hawick and Selkirk in the west.
This is a beautiful, large rural area with a variety of fiercely proud Border towns and villages, but with low wages and challenges facing traditional sectors. It is a seat that would benefit from Paul's experience and influence to secure the investment it needs.
After a 19-year career as an economic development consultant, Paul Wheelhouse MSP was elected on the South Scotland List in 2011.
Since 2012 Paul has held two Ministerial posts under First Ministers Alex Salmond and Nicola Sturgeon, and won 'Politician of the Year' 2015 in the Nature of Scotland Awards.
Paul has lived in the constituency for 16 years, is well regarded locally and further afield and, if successful in May, will be a stronger voice for this area of Scotland within the Scottish Parliament.
Every penny you donate will be used to maximum effect to help us elect Paul Wheelhouse as a constituency MSP, while also encouraging as big a list vote as we can muster to help re-elect our SNP Government.
We realise not everyone is able to help financially, so whatever way you can support our campaign is greatly appreciated.
Feel free to contact us on our facebook page Paul4ERB or follow Paul on Twitter at @PaulWheelhouse. Thank you for your support.
If you are kind enough to donate more than £50 to my campaign, even in multiple donations, your name and address will be checked against the electoral register to ensure that you are eligible to donate. Your name, but not your address, will be made available by the council on request after the election.
