This time last year, you helped us to fundraise to bring our colleagues from Palestine's only locally-run animal protection group (PAL) from the occupied West Bank to the UK to carry out an awareness-raising speaking tour. During the ten-day trip, the team shared stories about their work for animals and people in one of the world's most challenging environments.
The trip was a huge success and led to vital support for some of the group's major projects. These included: Palestine's very first spay and neuter programme for street dogs, a far reaching animal welfare education programme for young people growing up under occupation and work to develop Palestine's first animal welfare law. It also gave our team the chance to travel outside of Palestine and share their story; something which is often denied to them due to the ongoing occupation and arbitrary restrictions on their movement, both nationally and internationally.
Following the success of the 2015 trip, our team has now been invited to travel to France, Italy, Poland and Switzerland in April of 2016. Once again they will be working hard to raise awareness and make connections to support work for people and animals in Palestine. They will be meeting with like-minded organisations and giving public presentations and talks about their work. Once again, we are asking you to help us.
In order to fund the trip, we need to raise £1,500. This will fund all of the travel, visas and borders control costs for our team. During the trip, we will be staying with friends and colleagues in order to keep costs to an absolute minimum. If the trip is successful, we will be able to reach hundreds of people in four countries. The positive impact that our 2015 trip had on the development of PAL was incredible. We hope with your help we can make this year's trip even bigger and better.
All talks carried out on the trip (currently planned for Rome, Turin, Marseille, Bern and Warsaw with more locations to be added) will be free of charge and all of our supporters are warmly invited to attend. We hope to see you in April!
