Job creation is a real challenge where we live and our business, Mountain & Sea Guides, is trying to create a training position which will also pay a living wage. School leavers and young people in the Applecross, Skye and Lochalsh area of the Highlands need opportunities to get into modern, sustainable careers which offer both challenge and job satisfaction. We will be offering all of this via our Outdoor instructor Apprenticeship scheme allowing individuals to gain certification and job experience in the adventure tourism industry which our area of the highlands is so famous for.
It is our aim to contribute over £5000 towards ensuring that the position is paid allowing someone a good start in the industry. We are seeking to raise another £10,000 contributing towards out of season wages, training and certificate awards which can only be provided externally.
As the business earning season is short here in the Highlands we have historically provided paid jobs only during the 12 weeks of the UK summer school holidays. Our apprentice scheme aims to offer a longer term opportunity for people to gain more from the year and kick start a career.
Mountain & Sea Guides has been operating in the small community of Applecross for some 20 years. We are leaders in our field and are asking for your support to create some career opportunities in this remote, economically fragile part of the UK. Many thanks.
