Robin Hunter-Clarke has been selected by the Rhondda Cynon Taf UKIP Branch to fight the upcoming General Election, in order to oust Sitting Labour MP, Owen Smith who no longer represents the people of Pontypridd and has shown how out of touch he really is.
"This evening I addressed the Rhondda Cynon Taf UKIP branch, having applied to be their candidate in the Parliamentary Constituency of Pontypridd.
I am pleased to say that the membership selected me to be their candidate in the upcoming snap General Election.
Owen Smith is the MP for Pontypridd. The people of Rhondda Cynon Taf voted to Leave the European Union, yet Owen Smith voted AGAINST triggering Article 50 and said recently he doesn't think 'we should accept we're on a definite path out'. He is also in favour of having a second referendum.
Well I have a message for Owen Smith: You are out of touch with your constituents, and you no longer represent them.
I am standing to give the people of Pontypridd a real alternative. I live locally, and will be out between now and Election Day campaigning on local issues, and giving the residents an option to vote for someone who will represent their interests in Parliament, and ensure the Welsh people get the best possible Brexit deal.
The Labour Party is in complete disarray nationally, and Owen Smith represents part of the problem, not the solution.
The campaign begins now".
Edwin Allen, Chairman of the Rhondda Cynon Taf branch said "We are delighted to have Robin as our candidate in Pontypridd. He is an experienced candidate, having achieved UKIP's second best general election result in 2015. He lives and works in Wales, and would make a great hardworking MP for the people of Ponty. We need change here, not more of the same".
I am seeking donations to assist me in the campaign to oust Owen Smith. Please give whatever you can, no matter how small the donation it will all help over the next few weeks.
