Story
Thank you for looking at our story..
My husband and I have been trying for a baby for 5 years and have been unsuccessful. We have found out that my husband has klinefelter syndrome which is where there is two types of chromosome, called the sex chromosomes, determine the genetic sex of a baby. These are named either X or Y.
Usually, a female baby has two X chromosomes (XX) and a male has one X and one Y (XY). But in Klinefelter syndrome, a boy is born with an extra copy of the X chromosome (XXY) which make him infertile but there is a operation he can have which give him a 5% chance of having his own child.. He may be able to have his sperm collected through testicular sperm extraction (TEST). During TEST, sperm are obtained using a thin needle inserted into the testicle or through a small cut made in the testicle. Normal sperm are identified and then used for in vitro fertilization.
We would love to have the opportunity to try and have our own child but it comes with a cost (like everything) but with the ivf treatment as well we just cant do it all..
