Old Garchonians FC is a community club, based in North London. We provide weekly sporting and social opportunities to 100+ members through 11-a-side matches, 5-a-side matches, open training sessions and regular social events. We are run entirely by our committed members, who range from 17 - 40+.
The club was started in memoriam of our close friend Freddie Garcha. Whilst travelling Colombia in 2011 Freddie was tragically killed whilst victim to a robbery. Since 2011 we have grown to 5 teams and are one of the most successful clubs in the Southern Amateur League. As a club we strive to be inclusive and have opened up our membership to those who knew Freddie and to those who didn’t, regardless of ability. Old Garchonians Football Club is our way of creating a legacy that keeps Freddie’s memory burning bright. We pride ourselves on playing football the right way, growing sustainably and being active in the community.
We all have strong ties to North London, where the majority of our members grew up, with the clubs spiritual home in Muswell Hill. We draw members from the surrounding areas of Crouch End, Finsbury Park, Haringey, Hackney, and Islington. It is in these areas that we focus our community events.
WHY WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT
We have big ambitions for our club and hope that it can become a stalwart in North London, in terms of helping young adults to stay out of trouble and to find a safe and fun environment in which to partake in sporting activities.
We would like to continue the following community work:
- Young Adult football tournaments during school / university holidays
- The annual Phil Cain Memorial Match
- Summer Family Fun Day & BBQ
- Offering more reduced memberships - to ensure that the club remains inclusive regardless of background
We would also like to secure the short and medium term future of the club through:
- Website development - to help us attract more members and sponsorship
- Improved training facilities and equipment - to help us provide for a larger numbers
- Improved matchday facilities - to compete with other clubs at our level and above
To continue our good work and to make all of the above a reality we need to raise money to sustain the future of the club. And that is where you can help by donating towards our unique vision for amatuer football.
Old Garchonian's - We're not just a football club, we're a family.
