New4You Youth group

New4You, Youth Group, Plymouth City Centre, over 150 teenagers have became members since the beginning of September 2015. Big Build coming!

New4You youth group was established in 2001.  A response to a need for teenagers to have a space to meet and belong. Its aim is to provide a place for teenagers to have fun in a safe environment.

Since 2001 it has changed beyond all recognition.  Beginning with 11 very committed young people. Today in September 2015 alone, it has seen over 150 teenagers from 15 - 18 years of age become members in one month.

The group has been recognised by Plymouth City Council, who awarded it the Young Stars, Achievements Awards for contribution to the community over two consecutive years.  The young leaders have also achieved recognition from Devon Community Foundation receiving the Young Leader of the Year Award in 2011 and again in 2014.

In recent years the group has seen numbers rocket.  In meeting so many young people it has seen the many needs and struggles they face especially those teenagers who roam the city centre streets at the weekends.

In response to these needs the youth project is embarking on an ambitious city centre build.

Since its foundation, young people have raised funds to develop a basement area into a youth space, purchase equipment, build toilets and now in 2015 they have drawn up plans to do a 'big build'. A professional group of architects are standing longside them, free hold land is available and consent to develop the facility given.
