In May 2017 Mighty Oaks Morpeth will turn 10 years old.
We have served many people during our ten years and have also towed our trailer many miles. Our coffee machine and grinder, although ten years old, are still serving us very well but our trailer, despite many improvements and even a respray is becoming really quite rusty and difficult to keep the rain out of.
Our team of 30 volunteers are still committed to serving free drinks to the community every weekend and intend on doing so for as long as people want our free drinks and appreciate our presence in the market square. We would like to replace our trailer with a fitted vehicle that can be driven rather than towed. We only have three volunteers with a tow bar at present which means the burden lies heavy on the few to transport the trailer. A drive-able vehicle would enable more people to help out and would also give us storage for all of the equipment.
At present our funding comes from the generous donations of the public and from a few local churches and groups. We are completely reliant on the generosity of the local community and of the volunteers who rarely reclaim their spending on milk, gas and equipment.
We intend to use our existing machinery and put it into a customised vehicle. In order to do this we need to raise enough funds to buy the vehicle and then pay for the customisation.
