New Folding Trolleys For Volunteer Use

Tunbridge Wells Foodbank looking to purchase trolleys to help our volunteers sort, pack and transport foodbags in our unit and on deliveries

Nourish is a registered charity operating in Tunbridge Wells and the surrounding areas. We work with frontline agencies to determine the need and validity of each referral in order to supply short-term emergency food and supplies to those in crisis. People are referred to Nourish for a wide variety of reasons such as problems with benefits, domestic violence, low/delayed wages, debt and homelessness.

In 2014-2015, 2,345 people in crisis in Tunbridge Wells and surrounding areas were provided with three days' emergency food, 43% of whom were under 18. This was an increase of 21% YoY from 2013-2014 and we have again seen increased demand in 2015-2016

We work from our base at Big Yellow Self Storage in Tunbridge Wells where we store our food in three large storage units. Our volunteers pick and pack food bags three days a week and we have a dedicated team of volunteer drivers that distribute our bags directly to the homes of our beneficiaries.

Our individual bags can weigh in the region of 11Kg and our family bags can weigh up to 25Kg. These are extremely heavy to transport around and we are looking to purchase additional trolleys to help our wonderful volunteers with packing bags and transporting food between our units and also when delivering bags.

We already have one of these trolleys kindly donated by Circle housing in Tonbridge and they are fantastic. They fold up completely and are easy to transport and can take up to 60Kg.

The Trolleys cost £143 each and we are looking to purchase 3 more to help us in our units. Thank you for your support.
