New stretch target
The money you have donated will enable Sang Gurung to continue providing neccesstities to the village and potentially contribute toward rebuilding their homes. I am so pleased that we have reached the inittial target, but if we can raise more, then our contribution can be even greater.
To raise funds for my dear friend in Nepal so he can support his family and local community who are struggling to survive
About the project
PLEASE DONATE TODAY: Sang Gurung and his family desperately need your help
Kerabari village, Ghorka District, Nepal
I met Sang Gurung a few years ago and stayed with his family whilst I was traveling alone in Nepal. He has since contacted me directly to ask me for help.
Sang Gurung works hard and over the years has built his way up to the point where was running his own restaruant in the tourist season in Varkala, India. He would save and send money back to his family in Nepal. Last year, he even managed to save enough to money to purchase a house for his sister. After the devastating earthquake that hit Nepal, the house has been totally destroyed, as well as his own family home and most of his village. They now have no-where to live and very little in the way of aid. Everything he has worked for has been destroyed overnight, and there are very few people in his life who haven’t been affected. It is hard to predict how much the Nepalese government will be able to do for their people.
What makes it hard is that I know how generous and warm Sang Gurung and his family are, they have an outlook on life and people that is open and generous. I know that they would help others in need and as a result, I feel a duty to help Sang Gurung and his family. The most obvious way we can help is financially. Any money we can raise will help Sang and his family in getting back on their feet, and they themselves will then be in a position to help their own community. We will also collate messages that people write to try and help lift their morale and let them know we're thinking of them.
