We need help to cover the costs for our instructor and mentor Mr Eric Tuvey to further his training with Choi Kwang Do International, to do this the next leg of his training will take him to Atlanta, USA to train under the Founder of Choi Kwang Do, Grandmaster Kwang Jo Choi.
Norwich Choi Kwang Do started life in 1996 under the direction of Mrs Georgina Tuvey whom at the time was Head Teacher at Ranworth First School. Utilising Choi Kwang Do, a science based Martial Art with an emphasis upon personal gains and Non-Contact training Mrs Tuvey started a free after school club to help children in her school who had behavioural and or learning issues to achieve success and gain focus, self-respect and self-discipline.
The Club was a success and not only helped many of her students but in addition encouraged parents to take pride in their Childrens achievements.
The club now runs under the guidance of Mr Eric Tuvey, son of Mrs Tuvey as a non-profit club based in an area known to be in undue hardship. Ensuring the same benefits can continue to help not just the local Children but also reach out to children throughout Norwich whilst remaining competitive and affordable to all.
Norwich Choi Kwang Do over the past 20 years has helped local children from all lifestyles. From students that have no learning problems to some with Autistic Spectrum Disorders, Attention Deficit Hyper Activity, Dyspraxia and Hyper/Hypo Mobility. NCKD have also helped many adults from the local area, many going on to become volunteer instructors also. Helping adults to remain active, to overcome barriers into exercise as well as learning all with the bonus of learning to defend themselves.
Mr Tuvey works full time to help care for his father and helping pay for carers to tend to him. This does not leave Mr Tuvey much free time, but the little time he has he dedicates to keeping his mother’s dream alive in helping the children and families within the west side of Norwich. He has done this voluntarily and for no financial gain for the past 20 years and he now needs our help to get him to his next level. This will then filter back and help his students grow as the family of students and instructors grow.
