Every year, our school, the King Alfred School, goes on a trip to a boarding school in Namibia called A. Gariseb School. There, we spend three weeks living with the children, teaching them English, and improving their facilities through manual labor, as well as bring them clothes and other things. However, to go on this trip we must each raise £3000 (there are 2 of us).
We have a year to raise the money and we will all be doing jobs as well as other things, but we would love your help.We are extremely passionate about helping these children's futures. Every year we help this school, and we have an amazing relationship with all the students. Our school has been helping this school for 11 years and we would love to continue this great relationship which both benefits children in Namibia but also educates us about life elsewhere. Get more details at our school website: http://www.kingalfred.org.uk/king-alfred-school/king-alfred-enrichment/international/namibia.html (though this page is outdated).
An amount of money will need to be spent on travel. All of the rest is used to buy the supplies for the school. This includes paint for a new bathroom, school uniforms and working in their vegetable patch. We also help the Elephant and Human relations charity. This charity works to decrease the number of elephants killed in disputes with locals as well as to help the community regain the skills that the most recent generation has lost due to poaching so that they may regain their relationship with these magnificent creatures (link here: http://www.desertelephant.org/)
When we come back, we will post videos/pictures of everything we did, and congratulate every one of you for supporting our project. We also will keep diaries on the trip! It means a lot to these children happy and we hope that you will help us make this happen!
