I am currently doing my A-Levels but in January 2018 I depart for Tanzania on a business internship which is completely voluntary. I have been placed with a local family safari business where I will be doing everything from promoting and advertising the business to organising safari trips for tourists. A lot of the local people rely on tourism as their income. I am also getting the incredible opportunity to volunteer at a local school where I will be helping to renovate the school and assist the class teacher, helping to give the children support in their learning and understanding. Furthermore, I will be travelling to a remote orphanage which is now home for over 40 children who have all lost their parents to HIV. Again, I will be helping with vital renovations and also in the children’s learning. I will also be working on an on going tree planting conservation program to help tackle deforestation. This trip will not only give me great work experience, it will also give me valuable life experiences. More importantly I will have a chance to give back to people less fortunate then my self as well as the experience of exploring another country, culture and wildlife. It will be an opportunity of a life time which I am lucky to have and will remember for my whole life.
I have so far raised £748. By selling cakes to our guests who come to stay at our family run holiday cottages. I have also sold multiple personal belongings to help raise money and in the new year I am doing a cake sale at my college to raise further funds.
Any donations, whatever the size, will be very gratefully received. Thank you. Rachel.
