Musical Mathematics is a small online blog, and printed zine covering and helping to promote independent musicians, record labels and projects.
We are a small company run by two best friends, it was born out of a love for music and a thirst to expose some of the most innovative and best bands the UK has to offer.
We support musicians uploading their music for free and in this spirit we have an online blog with as many reviews of free and independent music as we can manage. We also print an A3 folded magazine on a monthly basis and sell it for just 50p plus p&p to try and make it as accesible as possible.
We currently run this along side our university courses, although it is just two of us, we have a team of writers that work on a voluntary basis who essentially keep us alive.
We have been growing steadily in terms of fans and followers over the past year and a half, but its time to expand, we would like to raise some money to set up a small screen printing workshop in house so we can create a larger magazine, increase production, take on more writers and keep costs to an absolute minimum.
We have currently don& 39;t take a wage from Musical Mathematics, and we have no plans to, this is because we strongly believe that music should be free and accessible for all and taking a wage would mean we would have to increase the price for everything, which is not what we are about. But it& 39;s our dream to take MM as far as we can, and if at some point in the future we could continue it as a full-time job then that would just be amazing.
Having our own screen printing equipment would also mean we could produce merchandise such as t-shirts to help raise capital which in turn will help us put on events and support bands.
We also are in the process of setting up an internet radio station and website and a small amount of the money we intend to raise will go towards the minor set up costs of that.
Finally we release completely free compilations, and this is only made possible by the bands and record labels that support us, this is something we would like to expand into a physical cd to help generate revenue for the bands on the cds. Please check them out below.
