The South and West Cornwall branch of the national MS Society is one of 350 local branches spread throughout the UK. The national MS Society is dedicated to improving the lives of those affected by MS and, through its research, hopes ultimately to find a cure for the condition. The national MS Society is able to provide local support, assistance and advice to its members through the network of 350 local branches. As our name suggests, our branch territory runs from Truro all the way to Land’s End covering South & West Cornwall.

There are estimated to be 1000 people living with MS in Cornwall, 270 of which are helped on a daily basis by the South and West Cornwall branch. We offer financial support to our members so they're able to access the best possible treatments and therapies. Our members can apply for grants from the branch to help subsidise the cost of treatments, equipment and respite care. We also offer £200 of vouchers for individual members of all ages to pay for therapies which can help ease MS Symptoms. We have a youth group to raise awareness of MS in schools and a Young Personsand Friend's Group, for young people in their twenties to support each other in living with MS.

We are a unique branch as we cover some of the most rural parts of the country in west Cornwall. As a progressive, physically debilitating condition, MS can have serious implications on a person's ability to get out and about, with limited public transport in rural areas. Our branch events, carers meetings and coffee mornings are a life line for our members to support each other and have an afternoon out.

Unfortunately, the branch is running out of money. We need your help! We are a close knit community and many of our members have MS, but as a result, not everyone is able to access towns and rural areas to make collections. As it stands, the branch might have to close in December 2015. We are desperate for some support to keep the branch running and reach out to those who need it the most, please, please help with whatever little you can.

Our future is in your hands,

The MS Society South and West Cornwall branch
