Last year Moseleyites will remember we had a campaign to light up the village as a Christmas homecoming for Maddox the Moose. Well we achieved our aim thanks to your support and Maddox is now happily living in the Prince of Wales pub.
This year we want Father Christmas to be welcomed to Moseley as he descends to our rooftops. We can give him a show surpassing even that of last year, with a total of twenty-five lamp post lights, along Alcester Road, St Mary's Row, Woodbridge Road and for the first time ever, at the parade of shops at the beginning of Wake Green Road.
Christmas lights in our city must be hired from the council. Each lamp post motif costs between £250 & £350 for installation, power and maintenance. For TWENTY-FIVE lamp post lights spread through the village we need to raise £7050
The mainly small & independent businesses of Moseley have donated towards the lamp post lights as well as time, materials and support for our fund raising gig and our switch on event. Moseley Farmers Market has once again kindly sponsored our tree and lights on the green at a cost of approx £1500
Moseley folk are rightly proud of our village in a city and we will hold a switch on event on Saturday 6th December. We are planning a great fun family event with food, arts and crafts, local choirs, church bells, a lantern parade, street entertainment and a childrens' Christmas trail through the village. Many people are donating time and effort to make this happen.
Local comedian Adil Ray, creator of cuddly Brummy Community Champion
will be pressing the red button on Saturday 6th December to switch on the lights
Businesses and residents in Moseley are a community working together.
Lets celebrate where we live and work and light up our village in a city this Christmas!
