Cornwall's iconic Montol festival will being held for the 10th time in 2016.
What is Montol? Montol is a celebration of the traditions of the Cornish Christmas which occurs every 21st of December. The most famous custom being celebrated during the event is that of guise dancing, a tradition of of disguise and misrule.
Why we need your help? Montol does not receive large amounts of public funding and is almost entirely dependant on public support both voluntary and financial. For the festival to continue this year we urgently need to raise the money to meet the challenges that increased participants bring with them and enhance this amazing spectacle. The future of Montol depends on your support.
Our rewards. Our rewards are taken from the work of the association that runs Montol, including the book that inspired the revival of these customs.
This project has been approved for funding through the Heritage + The Crowd match funding. If this project reaches 75% of its initial target it will automatically receive the final 25% from Heritage Lottery Fund.
