To help fund my volunteer work in Fiji, I'm looking for people to sponsor me as I deprive myself of certain foods for a month.
About the project
Hello friends!! So from the 1st to the 24th of August I will be in Fiji volunterring with Volunteer Eco Student Abroad (VESA). Over there I will be helping to repair schools, teaching a bit of English to some local children and helping to build water catchment features, that will help give villages access to fresh, clean and runnning water. Also during my third week over there, I will be helping replant trees and coral reefs after the island of Viti Levu was recently hit by a typhoon.
However, in order to do that I will need to pay VESA £1500. This money will go toward accomadation, transport amongst the islands, drinking water for myself, materials and tools needed for the labour itself and funds for assistance for the local labourers. I will be funding the flights myself. Being a lowly a student, I will not have time to work to earn this money myself and so I'm reaching out to the generous, giving and caring side that I'm sure you all possess somewhere within you.

Now I understand that it's odd to ask for something from you without giving you something back and so in exchange I intend to torture myself for a month. People do marathons and similar things all the time so I'm looking to mix it up a little, plus physical challenges I can handle but what I have in mind sounds much more difficult from my point of view.
So those of you who know me well will know that I am a great fan of food and in particular a massive lover of meat. With this in mind I will be spending the next month doing four different weeks of four different food restrictions.
Week 1: Muslim restriction week. This will mean no pork products, only Halal meat and no booze whatsoever. Seeing as I do not know where I can get Halal foods in my area this will basically mean no meat at all.
Week 2: Gluten free week. I am not a fan of this one, I'm still learning what I'm not allowed to eat for this week and everytime I find out yet another thing I can't eat, the tears in my eyes build.
Week 3: Vegan week. I'm really not sure I'm going to survive this week, I literally cannot remember the last time I ate something where animals were not the focus.
Week 4: Ramadan. During this week I will only be able to eat while the sun is down. As a man who loves his bed, this one will be extremely difficult when I have to get up before the sun rises to get some food for the day. I will, however, be allowing myself to drink plain water throughout the day as I will still be going to the gym, playing sport and working on my degree.
So that's my plan!! Week 1 starts today and week 4 will end on the 2nd of April. I will be updating everyone often on the Facebook event that I have created. I would be incredibly grateful for any amount donated to the cause. Thanks for reading and thanks for participating!!
