As part of their exciting Lights Up campaign, the Merlin Theatre are raising funds to put towards a much needed upgrade of the theatre's technical equipment.
Who are we?
The Merlin Theatre is a small but mighty community theatre and registered charity, run by an army of volunteers to bring excellent, memorable experiences to the people of Frome and beyond.
We believe that opportunities to enjoy the arts, whether as a member of an audience or as a participant in a production, a workshop or class, can significantly increase the well-being and quality of life of individuals, of communities and of society as a whole.
Celebrating their 40th Birthday last year, the Merlin set off on the ambitious task of raising £30,000 match funding for an Arts Council grant to raise funds for badly needed new lighting and sound equipment.
Having not properly upgraded the technical system since the theatre's opening, the Merlin are excited to propel itself into the 21st century of technical rigging to improve the overall theatre experience for all!
With new equipment comes new experiences!
The new equipment will mean enhanced experiences for both audiences and theatre companies alike. Improved lighting will enhance viewing for audiences whilst giving touring companies and in house productions more creative freedom with lighting design. The sound quality for productions and screenings will be significantly improved with better sound desk, microphones and audio solutions. With such advances sound, visuals, creative freedom and audience enjoyment will be greatly improved for youth groups, workshops, in-house productions, touring companies and all those who come to enjoy them.
People's generosity so far has been incredible, with the target nearly raised from over a year’s worth of fundraising and volunteers selflessly giving their time - but we still have a little way to go! We’ve launched our Crowdfunder page to make donating to our cause as easy as possible.
Please pledge whatever you can to help the Merlin reach their target, and help bring our tired old technical equipment out of the dark ages and into the light. Lights Up!
