To purchase a plaque for Leon Briggs who died in police custody
About the project
Leon Briggs 39, was detained by Luton police in November 2013.He had not committed any offence and was not arrested.he was detained under section 136 of the Mental Health Act,and should have been taken to hospital.Leon died in police custody hours later.A vigil memorial was set up outside the police station where his family and community held vigils, took candles and flowers to remember Leon.
On May 29th this year the police removed all of the memorial claiming it was a terrorist threat. The police have said they will consider a plaque to be placed at the site instead.Leon leaves behind two daughters and a bereaved family.
We ask you to donate to this fund,so that Leons memory will live on and the family and community can continue to pay their respects at the place where Leon died.
