Mathatar: The time travelling Maths adventure game

We're raising £250k in time for the 27th January 2018 Mathatar launch event at BETT London. Mathatar is an EduGame teaching Maths KS2-GCSE

We did it!

On 3rd Jan 2018 we successfully raised £300 with 4 supporters in 56 days

Maths has a bad reputation for many people in the UK, yet it is such an important skill and mandatory for the National Curriculum. Our objective is to help people learn Maths to GCSE standard and improve their functional skills in a fun, exciting, game playing, non-intimidating environment. For schools, pupils can use as a learn and revision tool, whilst adults can simply improve their numeracy skills through a fun, immersive educational quest of History & Mathematics.

Over the past two years we have been developing Mathatar to make learning Maths easier and more fun for everyone, whether at school, at home or even out in the workplace.

Mathatar is an educational computer game (that we are calling an EduGame!)  that delivers an exciting and engaging learning experience by taking players on a quest to discover not only the history of Maths (which is really the history of mankind), but also teaches the player Maths from Key Stage 2 up to Grade 9 GCSE. It also delivers an interesting and enjoyable way for people frightened of Maths to learn important functional skills whilst changing their relationship with Maths, from "I HATE MATHS!" to "THIS IS SO COOL!"

The game is going to launch at the end of January 2018 with your help and will be available on PC  in early 2018 and Xbox later in 2018.

An additional aim of our project is to engage with potential customers and deliver excellent rewards along the way.

All backers will receive their physical rewards in time for Xmas if they pledge by the end of November(except where postage overseas delays) .

The game itself will launch at the end of January 2018. The official launch of Mathatar will be at the prestigious BETT show, held at London's Excel centre. Details of the launch will follow, but there are already some exciting surprises coming!

Behind the exciting gameplay are highly polished Maths lessons. The lessons within are engaging, professionally narrated animated films with assessments and supplementary maths questions to enable subject mastery. All lessons have English subtitles for deaf children and to enable those with lower English skills/English as a second language to successfully follow at all times.

All lessons are powered by eMathsMaster, our sister company - Sample lessons are available at

Players who are lacking confidence in the subject of Maths have the opportunity to revisit subjects where confidence may be limited and get a thorough understanding of the subject.

The lessons are accredited and have been developed by the Heads Of Maths at a highly regarded Academic Trust. All learning materials and assessments are related to the current UK National Maths curriculum and follow the effective ‘Shanghai Method’ of mastery. Feedback from players has been hugely positive and many parents have found the game reduces or even negates the need for expensive private Maths tuition.

Every player starts at Key Stage 2 Maths standard, which gives students studying at a higher level the opportunity to revisit earlier modules with the likelihood that this will ‘fill in any cracks’ in the player’s mathematical knowledge and understanding.

Additional game features include badges, achievements, social media interactions, mini games, historical context to enable deeper understanding / mastery, revision areas, full support (with Teachers on hand to help if required) and an incentive programme that drives players to achieve high scores in return for rewards.

Over the next few weeks, many updates on the game's progress, with walk-throughs, builder videos and playable demo's will be available, as well as interviews with the founders, creators and brains behind the most exciting game of Maths ever to be made.

We want to make Maths fun! Will you become a Mathatar Mathlete & join our adventure?
