We are raising funds to help pay towards Mackenzie's World Challenge trip to Swaziland and Mozambique in July and August 2018.
When we signed Mackenzie up for this amazing, (hopefully) life-changing experience, we had to agree to pay the full cost of £4,000 and have set up monthly payments to do so before he leaves. The intention, however, is to fund raise to help pay towards it. Mackenzie, his family and friends will be doing various things between now and July 2018 which we hope you will be able to support. We have a 'bag pack' arranged at Sainsbury's in Woolton Village (more on that soon), we will be raffling some signed Liverpool Football Club merchandise and Mack is running the Liverpool Santa Dash too. Now I know that Mack is considered an elite athlete and he's more than capable of running the Santa Dash, but last time he ran it - the junior event - he didn't win and was so upset he cried and refused to collect his selection box prize! So - lets see if he can do any better this time :-)
Whilst in Swaziland, Mack will be staying with a local community in the Northwest of the country and helping out with existing projects at either a Neighbourhood Care Point or at a school, providing support for orphaned and vulnerable children affected by HIV and aids. The project could involve construction, painting, refurbishment, teaching, tree planting, conservation and agriculture, but there will be other opportunities to help out generally in the village by doing things like fetching water, making maize meal, teaching English or playing sports.
Whilst in Mozambique, Mack will be helping out the Marine Research and Whale Shark Conservation Project based in Tofo. He will be gathering field data on whale sharks and coral reefs and helping with beach clean ups, categorising litter to help identify those responsible.
If you would like to know any more about where Mack is going and what he is doing, there is a very detailed itinerary available, so please ask!
