Luke Wiltshire is a Year 13 student currently studying Performing Arts at Alec Reed Academy in Northolt. Since the end of Year 9 Luke has been battling neuroblastoma. Recently Luke was told there was no further treatment in the UK. his fellow students wanted to show Luke some solidarity and help to raise some funds for him. About 18 months ago a series of fundraising events raised £6000 for the Teenage Cancer Trust. Other smaller events have raised another £1000.
Since learning of Luke's surrent situation, students have decided to stage another fundraiser, which will bring the wider community together to show support for Luke's family. An evening event at the Academy is planned, to end with a firework display to celebrate Luke being one of us. RAF Northolt have offered to get involved and we are hoping to get some special guests, including Luke's whole family, to come along.
The sum of £750 is the heavily discounted amount a professional firework company would need to charge to supply and fire the fireworks. Tickets will be on sale to neighbours and friends of the school and all profits from sales, hot dogs, luminous bracelets etc. will go to support the family.
When you consider the generally impoverished area the Academy is in and that students in the last 3 or 4 years have raised over £20,000 for charity this would be a fitting thank you to all involved.
