Midlothian Community Concert Band was set up in 2010 with the aim of creating a space for musicians of all ages in the community to come together and learn from each other. We have members aged 11 to 85 and all are welcome to come and play with us.
We aim to play at least three concerts each year and have no official funding, our wonderful conductors volunteer their time.
At the moment we have no official uniform and we always have a debate about what we should wear to our next concert. Our conductor, David Knox, says that if we look better we will play better and if we play better we will feel better...about our band and about ourselves!
(Not only that but it will save everyone raking around trying to find the perfect shirt before every concert)
Mr Knox is ex-army and knows a thing or two about uniform so we have dutifully found some lovely waistcoats that everyone can wear and have had a logo designed for us too! The adults in the band are buying their own logo'd waistcoat but we don't want the children to have to buy theirs so we are hoping our community can help us out!
We need to raise enough money for waistcoats for 18 school children in our band and the waistcoats are £23 each. They are going to look so smart with their waistcoats over their school uniform when they play for our wonderful Midlothian community!
Perhaps you've been to one of our concerts? Perhaps your child plays or will one day play with us? Perhaps YOU play with us or would like to? Or perhaps you are just a genuinely kind giving person who would like to give a local project a boost? Whoever you are, your donation would be very gratefully received. Thank you!
