We are looking for the funds required to register as an official political party. We have yet to decide on a name, but it will be something like the London Autonomy Party (LAP), or the London Independence Party (LIP). London provides 1/3 of national income from taxation; more than twice the amount produced by the so-called "Northern Powerhouse" region. If the axiom that "taxation equals representation" is to be taken seriously, then London deserves far more of the latter. The immense capital flight out of London doesn't seem like a fair state of affairs for the hardworking people of the great British capital; it should be invested back into London, to make it a stronger, more dynamic, and more equitable environment. Moreover, in the wake of the Brexit vote, it is an absudity that London, the financial capital of Europe, which overwhelmingly voted to Remain in the EU, should be forced to suffer the brute consequences of a Hard Brexit (which it overwhelmingly will do). In sum, we have a situation now where London pays for the rest of the country, but suffers disproportionately the results of national anti-EU sentiment. Our political movement aims to give Londers a greater voice in national affairs, give the London Assembly greater legislative powers, and give London the political, economic and cultural autonomy it deserves.
