After a stabbing in our local area in 2014, All Hallows Bow and the church's community projects Eden Bow and Fern Street Settlement decided enough was enough! It was time to come together with local people to reclaim our streets.
Inspired by a parade we'd seen at the Eden Project in Cornwall, we decided a Christmas night carnival would be the perfect way forward to release some light, hope, colour and joy onto the streets of Bow.
So we ordered a few kilograms of willow, taught ourselves to make a few lanterns, ended up with a giant lion and a T-rex along the way and the rest is history!!
The parade is now a much-loved and looked-forward to part of our community life that celebrates the creativity, hope and community spirit that are the real heart of the East End.
All Hallows Bow church has backed this year's parade for the costs of party and publicity, but we're still short of the £350ish we need to buy materials for the lantern-making to make sure everyone gets a chance to join in.
Help us make the Lincoln Light Parade 2017 happen and back us today!
