Project aim

A Gambian friend has a spreading cataract on his eye, causing repetitive migraines. Needs an operation to remove it before he goes blind

About the project

We met Bakary Ceesay when in The Gambia with the Legs4Africa charity. He has had to leave his job, working as a hotel waiter because of his excrutiating migraines due to the large spreading cataracts. His family live hand to mouth and have no chance of paying for his operation, or even the transport to take him to the specialist eye hospital in Dakar that can remove it. This is an impossible amount of money for him and his family to raise.

The hospital in Gambia do not have a doctor qualified to perform the surgery and £240 is enough to pay for his transport to and from Dakar, Senegal, pay for his operation, his hopital bed and his food. This operation will genuinely change his, and his wonderful families life for the better.

If my friends just chuck in a few quid each we can easily hit the target and really help someone that would otherwise loose his eye.

If we make anything over the £240 I will donate the excess to Legs4Africa, a charity that provide free prosthetic legs and mobility equipment to amputees in Gambia and Senegal.

Thankyou for reading, together we can do good things.
