Lidocaine for the Memories - A Photographic book

'Lidocaine for the Memories' is a photographic series that I have culminated from several visits to lidos throughout the South East. From derelict to re-opened lidos, I have explored these spaces through the medium of photography. The images combine to create a cultural reminiscence of a lost and reclaimed pastime, that disappeared from our minds but not from the landscape. I have chosen this subject due to my passion for history and memory and how I can represent this within photography. Through my inquisitive nature I have researched the history of lidos in depth and have merged my series with historical photographs and discovered memories. The series title plays on the subject of lidos; and the use of the word lidocaine, a drug that can cause side effects similar to feelings created by nostalgia, takes my audience on a journey through a society s memories or even their own personal memories. I want as many people to rediscover or even discover for the first time these special social spaces that are slowly reappearing in our culture. Therefore I hope to produce a photographic book which can be enjoyed by many people from different walks of life, as these lidos once brought together. I need funding to produce quality printed books for my audience, that they can enjoy and cherish, like my subject once was and will be again. Thank you very much and I hope you will support me, please send me an email with your name and address after pledging so I can contact you regarding your gift and send it to you! My email address is: amy-louise1993@live.co.uk Any donation will help me to achieve my goal and in return I want to send out individually tailored gifts to thank you for your support! (If you choose to pledge £10, you will receive an A3 print of a lido which you can choose from the following; The Ducker lido Harrow, Margate lido, Coate Water lido, Serpentine lido, Hilsea lido and Parliament Hill lido.)
