About the project
This project aims to provide leadership and employability workshops in schools and FE colleges. The trials have proved successful and we have some good engaging workshops lined up for next academic year.
The background to the project was the realisation that many school leavers were not fully prepared for the rigors of the job market, especially those going on selection based interviews. Previous work in the employment sector indicated that many school leavers lacked confidence and experience to get ahead of their peers, especially if the latter were privately educated.
The first workshop seeks to introduce functional leadership concepts, with a view to encouraging students to recognise their own previous experience (however small they see it) and their potential. Our experience shows that many pupils see leaders as other people, such as politicians and teachers, and fail to recognise ability in themselves. This workshop leads onto a planning workshop where the learners analyse a task before creating and briefing a plan. The third workshop is more focussed on employability itself and covers job hunting and interview skills.
We believe that an understanding of leadership, underpinned with an awareness of one’s own ability and potential, at a developmental age could be one of the key factors that shape an individual’s future.
We aim to push this programme out throughout the UK where we can. Each £2000 will pay for 8 to 10 1 x day long workshops, including admin costs (depending on location and travel).
Kenaz Training is a relatively new company set up by former Armed Forces Personnel. Our future aim is to offset this project with the profits from our commercial work as part of our Corporate Social Responsibility.
