We take socks, gloves, hats, juice, sandwiches and dog food into Bath each Saturday for the homeless & their dogs. We fund this alone.
About the project
Every Saturday my husband and myself take thick socks, fingerless gloves, hats, snacks, sandwiches, fruit juice and dog food to the homeless people of Bath.
We cover as many people as we can, walking the streets and going to the usual haunts for a couple of hours. We then end the evening at the Cattle Market Car Park, where the Genesis Trust do their nightly soup/sandwiches run. We just take the socks, gloves, hats, dog food and a few snacks here, as obviously the Genesis Trust has the sandwiches covered.
We fund this ourselves and whilst we do not begrudge it, it is not financially possible for us to sustain this long term without help. If we could receive some funding, this would enable us to buy more socks, gloves, hats, as well as the weekly costs involved with food, dog food, juice, packaging materials, car parking etc.
The help we provide is very gratefully received. We spend time chatting to the people we help and the feedback we get is very positive. The food is obviously very welcome for hungry people, but in particular, the socks and dog food (for the many with pets) are very popular and to our knowledge, we are the only people who provide anything like this.
We need help to continue this work. We are halfway through the year which means that the cold weather is approaching fast. Please help us if you can. Thank you.
