Past in a nut shell
Two years ago we were given the news that when the lease of the land was up our landlord wished to develop the site, the two years are up in June 2017. Recently the landlord has been successful in achieving his planning permission, however, he has now offered St Austell Sea cadets first refusal to purchase the land for £80,000, before going to auction. We have managed to secure £60,000 of this already in just 6 weeks! We have exhausted all options for St Austell Sea Cadets to move to an alternative premises and although we have tried, nothing has been sufficent for our needs. We now need to raise the remaining £20,000 to secure the future of St Austell Sea Cadets as a well-run, thriving unit to support the young people of St Austell and its surrounding areas.
About our particular unit
We have 30 cadets between 10 and18 years old and staff volunteers from 18+, with new interest weekly! It would be a real shame for us to close due to something that is potentially within your reach.
What we give to the community
We have many good relationships within the local community, we are often approached to assist with 'marshalling' for athletic events and marathons, we also help at numerous local carnivals. We allow our faciltities to be hired at a reasonable price, including a local dance class held weekly. We always support other recognised charities of we can with any events.
