Kingstanding Food Community

We are a community food and well-being project based in the heart of Kingstanding, Birmingham.  We work with isolated, lonely and vulnerable residents from the surrounding area. Our mission is to encourage people out of their homes into our cafe, cookery school and allotments, where they feel safe and accepted, and learn to grow, nuture and harvest food, provide nourishing, healthy meals in the community cafe and learn a variety of culinary skills in our cookery school. The project has been running for three years and has been hugely successful.  We have 62 regular volunteers (most of whom have disabilites and/or conditions effecting their mental health) and have engaged with over 3500 people since 2013.  For the past two years we have been awarded "Best Food Project" by Birmingham City Council's Making Birmingham Greener Committee. Despite the amazing success of the project, we have just found out that our project's funding will come to an end on 31st October 2016, so we are now desperately seeking help from the public to help keep our project open and helping local people achieve a sense of well-being in their lives.  To meet our team and volunteers please visit our Facebook page - Kingstanding Food Community.  Thank you for reading.
