Wroughton villagers were very saddened to learn on 6th November that the wooden bench above Kings Farm Wood had been subjected to damage. However, we are determined to help Wiltshire Wildlife Trust (who are responsible for the area) replace the bench, hopefully without dipping into their own reserves. We value the green spaces around our village, and the work WWT do to maintain them.

There are possibilities for flame-retardent wood or native materials, as it's hoped the replacement will be as vandal-proof as it can be. WWT will make the choice of what to buy / build / install, as they will be responsible for its maintenance.

It's a very fine thing for a community to come together and make a good thing happen; that's the sort of community we're proud to live in.  If we pull together we can do this, and all enjoy the bench whether we visit on bright cold days or wait till Spring for warmer times!
