Although cut short, Jim lived a full & vibrant life following his diagnosis and we'd like to raise funds to help Kian do the same.
About the project
Family friend, Kian Van Hoof (aged 5) suffers from Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Duchenne results in a progressive loss of muscle strength. The progressive muscle weakness leads to serious medical problems, particularly issues relating to the heart and lungs. Young men with Duchenne typically live into their late twenties. Although there are medical treatments that may help slow its progression, there is currently no cure for Duchenne.
As a friend of Caitlin's, we would like to raise funds for Kian, in memory of Jim, to allow Kian the opportunity to do something special with his family. Over the past 14 months, since Jim's diagnosis, we have been lucky as a family to have made many wonderful memories from visiting Disneyland to skiing in Austria and numerous holidays inbetween. We know how precious these times are and we hope that the money raised can go towards Kian making his own memories.
