Project aim

To build a training environment to teach dis advantaged people core skills towards a broadcasting career. Run the academy as an online community Radio station with the plan of working towards a FM licence

About the project

The academy will involve local community based and internet stations to help assist with training to be given to disadvantaged people, low earners, benefits and disbled and people with learning difficulties.  They will be taught

The Studio - how it fits together
The equipment - how to use it
Program managing
Editing techniques
Presenting skills
Interviewing styles
How to approach a major station with a demo

We will also help them network themselves into groups and forums to share information online about their learning process as well as invite industry leading people to the academy for one to one mentoring.  But most importantly we will bring everyone together as one community to help each other along the way.

The Radio Academy is all about unity, learning and self improvement.

Please note this is not going to be a profit managed business, it will run on the bare essentials possible to comfortably teach and nurture its students. The Academy hopes to bring cultures together to share a common interest in Radio and presenting.

I have witnessed how frustratingly hard it is to enter the broadcasting world with a veiw for paid work.  Radio is changing by the week becoming more and more money driven.  We are losing program quality over adverts and people pushing brands.  We plan to help our students maintain a good standard of practice with todays technology as well as giving them the taste of real radio when the 'DJ' was the king.

To do this I will need a small premises, insurance and marketing.  I have enough equipment to make a start but will need to add to it as we progress.  This is why I am asking for your donations.  It doesn't matter how small you donate, every penny will help to bring the academy to life.  If we dont make the £15000 needed then I will continue to find funding as best as possible. If we go over it, it can all go towards equipment and furniture.  Like I said every bit counts.  Im registered disabled with mobility issues so I dont work as much as I used to, therefore my own finances could not cover my initial start up costs.  Also anybody who donates will be welcome to visit, take part as much as you like.  We are having a website made and we hope to broadcast over the internet so wherever you are in the world you will be able to hear where your donation went to.  I am truly blessed to have a great team of voluntary workers ready to help where and when needed.
