Kayak The Grand Union - and do something amazing!

I want to kayak the UK's longest man made waterway to see if I can and to inspire others to get up and do something amazing along the way.

They did it!

Last year I bought myself an inflatable kayak to play around with my daughter in the local arm of the Grand Union Canal and ever since I bought It I've had this real yearning to see if I can paddle the entire length of the UK's longest canal stretching 220 kilometers and going over 166 lock sets.

There's loads of reasons why I want to try it, but the main reason is to hopefully inspire all those people (me included) who say "I'd love to do..." but then just never get around to it then life or some excuse gets in the way and you never end up doing it. Well I don't want to do that or be that person and I've got this plan that by me doing this I can inspire other people to get up and do something for themselves.

We always see people on television doing big challenges and it always looks easy for them because they've got the backing of the television company behind them and they are usually sports stars or the like and it's quite simple to watch their challenges and think "Oh it's easy for them"

My plan as I'm just a normal person in a little house is to hopefully do my personal challenge and make a small movie about it and use the opportunity to prove to other people that they can do it too.

It's quite a simple plan, but there are a few things that I just can't afford and need to make the dream a reality (a proper kayak is one of the things I need)

There is a bit of risk in doing this project, primarily that fact that I'm not very good at using a kayak yet and I'm not as fit as I need to be, which is why I need to get a boat early so I can get into training.

I know this is a big ask, but who knows what will happen along the way and what stories will come from it.  But hopefully you'll talk to someone about this bloke who's paddling the Grand Union and they just might think, "I might do something like that!"
