Jungle Tales

A fun and lively illustrated children's story based on George the Hippo and his problem with hiccups.

The aim of this project is to produce the first in a series of children’s stories set in the jungle, matching beautifully textured illustrations with tales based around the problems overcome by the animal characters,

The story was written a couple of years ago and then sat on the back burner while I changed jobs and moved house from south London to the north east of England. Since writing the first story, ‘Hiccuping George’, I wrote three more set around the same bunch of jungle characters. Each story is set around one of the animals and their particular problem, while the other animals try to help solve it.

Once settled up north I came across some illustrations by Laura Sheldon, an artist who had done the opposite and moved from Newcastle to London. Laura liked the stories and we were both excited by how her creative style could bring them to life. Working together we’ve created a story that is both engaging and colourful, allowing the readers to enjoy the characters and humour that comes out.

The funds raised will allow us to complete the artwork and print around 300 copies; with the longer term aim to expand and develop the series of books and get them out to the wider world.
