My name is Jen Hawkins. Twelve years ago I made a life changing decision, this page is a result of that decision.
I realized that the career path I was following and the lifestyle choices I was making were no good for me. I was feeling more like a human doing than a human being.
I wanted to follow a path that made my heart sing and that helped others.
I left my job as a Head of English in a secondary school in Wolverhampton and went back to college to train to be an Aromatherapist.
What’s Important to Me?
I knew on the that first day back at college that I wanted to share the power of Aromatherapy with the world, I knew that I wanted to write, teach and share it with as many people as possible, you can take the teacher out of the classroom but you can’t take the classroom out of the teacher! However I also realised that I was only just beginning and for me being able to truly walk my talk is important.
I’ve just reached my tenth anniversary as a professional Aromatherapist, I’ve worked with hundreds of people in private practice and I’ve learned a lot along the way. I’ve seen the many beneficial effects of aromatherapy in the everyday lives of my clients and how this has had a positive impact for them,
“I came in feeling like the tin woman, now I feel much lighter and looser. You can't put a price on that. Incredible.” Ms.D- Shrewsbury.
What has become apparent to me through working with people closely is that the energy of the seasons underpins our daily lives, whether we are aware of it or not. Very often we’re so subscribed to keeping on, keeping on that we don’t tune in or listen to something more primeval, connected and in tune with who we really are.
I believe we’re paying the price for keeping on , keeping on ,by being more human doing than being and that this manifests in patterns of disease, distress and disharmony. I’m not advocating a return to the wild, as that simply isn’t feasible or desirable for many of us.
What I believe helps to foster a sense of ease, harmony and balance is tuning in to the seasons, recognising how they underpin our lives and taking tiny steps each day to achieve a healthy, balanced perspective and approach to life. I believe if we integrate those tiny steps in to our lives we can build a healthy foundation from which to live a more balanced and fulfilling life.
I’ve spent the last four years delivering workshops and working on a book about seasonal health and how we can use essential oils to complement our daily lives as the seasons change. I’ve had some really positive feedback
“I felt so renewed with energy and enthusiasm after the gathering and I will be a regular attender now. It's so important to understand how nature affects us and how we need to work with it rather than against it and by working with it our physical and mental health is improved,” Catherine- Shropshire
“I found the gathering very rewarding. It was informative about the changing seasons and our emotional and biological responses to the natural environment. The practical toolkit of introducing relevant essential oils was particularly useful. We learnt about the properties and benefits of some individually chosen oils, which were specific to seasonal changes. The benefits continued from beyond the session, as we were able to blend and take away our own essential oil mix. I can thoroughly recommend the sessions and found it to be a great opportunity to recognise the importance of our mental health. I was grateful for the creation of a moment of calm in my ever-changing busy life.” Joanna-Shrewsbury
"Jen has a talent of helping you understand the power and gentleness of the aroma range of oils that are available to us all. Even after sharing this with people for so many years, her enthusiasm and knowledge of her art comes shining through and is so infectious. I love her passion, love and wisdom of her chosen field of expertise. " Carol Cumber, Wales.
"I was looking for a way of slowing down and living in harmony with the world around me instead of fighting against it. Jen made me feel welcome and helped me understand the seasons’ impact on my life. The different oils we explore and take away gives a lasting reminder to ground myself and slow down. Jen's helped me balance my thinking and normalise physical feelings with the flow of the seasons and time of year." Jade- Shrewsbury
Now I want to share that knowledge with as many people as possible and give something back from the ten years I’ve been practising. My book aims to give people useful, practical, and easy to follow advice and information on how to care for their health simply, naturally and effectively. I’m at the point of being able to self publish and to do this I need to raise funds. I don’t want to just upload a document to an e-book platform, I want to produce something that can reach as many people as possible, sharing that well-being vision, helping us to get the most out of life.
I need your help and support to make this a reality, either by donating to the Crowdfunder, helping with rewards or simply liking and sharing with as many people as possible. I want to donate a percentage of the profits from the sales of the book to Save the Children, as global citizens I feel we have a responsibility to care for each other and invest in a healthy, happy future for all, where we all have the chance to grow, share and develop our unique talents. Making the world a healthier, happier place for all of us. I would love it and be very grateful, if you could share my vision and be part of the next steps of the journey.
