The first edition of Inside Hackney came out last spring, and the feedback from you is that you like it! We celebrate all that’s best in the area, from independent restaurants to the flamboyant Hackney Empire to the open space of the marshes. The second edition of our free pocket guidebook will be published in January 2017. It will have a print run of 25,000 and will be distributed throughout Hackney in 2017.
We want to bring the guide bang up to date by telling readers about the best places to eat, drink, shop, party and participate. We will add new interviews - with a community football star, Hackney's carnival king, a health activist, campaigners, singers and entrepreneurs.
There will be features on history, fashion and street art, plus the lowdown on cafés, restaurants, bars, clubs, theatres and cinemas, shops, sport, kids’ attractions, accommodation and evening classes. A section on community, ‘Our Hackney’, emphasizes volunteering and communal initiatives: discover where and how to volunteer, from urban gardening to cooking for the homeless to using legal skills.
We've raised some money through sponsorship, but producing a good guidebook is costly. We're using a local printer and FSC paper stock, but the print run alone costs £7000. Your contribution will go towards the print costs.
