We're raising £1,000 to help us provide food, clothing and shelter to refugees. Because basic human rights are our shared responsibility.
About the project
On 16th September, three INEED volunteers will travel to the Calais refugee camp with donations collected from our local area, Monmouthshire in Wales.
How will the money be spent?
The financial donations we recieve from this Crowdfunding campaign will be spent on food and medicinal items, and the transport costs to deliver the items to Calais from Monmouth. This will be our first visit that we are running in co-ordination with Calais Action. We will be co-ordinating regular drop off's after this date.
Why do we care about this?
There are currently over 3000 displaced people camped in makeshift shelters at the British border, surviving in appalling conditions. The situation is Calais is part of a wider migration crisis in Europe - largely caused by the displacement of people from war-torn countries such as Syria, Afghanistan and across North Africa. The govenments of France and UK have ignored the basic human rights of these people. The media is misrepresenting these people and spreading fear. Lets come together to help provide the basic human needs in the camp, such as food, shelter and hygiene.
