My name is Steven Pickett and I am excited to tell you that I have been selected to volunteer overseas with Challenges Worldwide on an International Citizen Service placement (ICS). ICS works with communities that have specifically requested their help. It also aims to inspire young people in the UK and overseas to become active citizens who are passionate about long-term community development.
The first part of my placement is a challenge to raise £800 towards the work of Challenges Worldwide and their ICS partners. The money raised will go towards enabling the overall costs of ICS, ensuring they can continue with and create more programmes to make a lasting difference in disadvantaged communities. The programme has been fully funded by DFID (Department for International Development) who run ICS so all money raised will go directly to the charities and not on funding myself to volunteer abroad.
After this, I will be heading to Africa (specific country tbc) for 10 weeks over the summer of 2017 to, amongst over things, work with local smalland medium sized enterprises with other volunteers from both the UK and the host country!
I am going to be an active fundraiser in my community in order to reach my target with event at the planning stages at the moment. However if you coule make any contribution to this cause it would make a real difference to the lives of people in developing countries! If you need more information or want me to write a blog as part of a sponsorship deal I am happy to discuss.
Thank you for your support!
